Irene is a Cyber Security Specialist with over 10 years of experience. She’s been involved in the development and implementation of ISO 27001:2013 and PCI-DSS certifications, development of cyber security policies and frameworks as well as providing general assurance of Confidentiality, Integrity and Assurance (CIA) at various fronts. She was also part of the workforce team that drafted the National Cloud Strategy. Irene has special interests in the emerging technologies in Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and Cryptography. She is also interested in financial services, entrepreneurship and research.

She is a member of SheHacks, a security outfit for ladies in cybersecurity that was born from Africahackon, a founding member of Africahackon. Irene is also a member of Women of Security (WoSec) – Kenyan Chapter. She’s contributed and mentored students from Akirachix and KamiLimu. Irene has participated in various cyber security forums most of which she has been the only female panelist.

Irene holds an Msc. IT Management from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor’s degree in Business and IT (BBIT) from Strathmore University and is also CISA and CISM certified.
